What Causes Kidney Stones?

Kidney Stones

Kidney stone formation is a partially understood, complex disease. It may be a part of more generalized disease process like metabolic syndrome or may be a fore runner of other diseases. So, Kidney stones should be taken seriously and every stone should be unturned to investigate the cause of its formation, as knowing the cause is as important as its treatment. The cause may be present locally, i.e. in Kidneys or in urinary tract or outside the urinary system. The Kidneys are stone forming factories and if we provide the same raw material and environment, these will again produce the same product i.e. stone.

Advanced medical science have discovered many reasons for the formation of stones but still many causes are hidden, many secrets need to be unfolded and many questions to be answered. Some known causes are discussed below.
