Be Careful About Ultrasound Findings

Self assessment of your case, just by ultra sonographic size of stone is misleading Some people become physician of their own by reading the USG report themselves and get confused. It’s not advisable for a patient to decide the plane of treatment of his/her stone disease by just knowing or comparing the size of stone in past n present ultrasound reports himself / herself, without consulting the concerned physician. Due to extensive quackery in Pakistan, common man is easily trapped in the cleverly talks of the quacks, who make fool of them by discussing the increase and decrease of stone size, without knowing that stone has rarely a round shape and is a three dimensional object, having length, breadth and width and many stones are branch shaped stag horn stones and uni dimensional measurement is always deceptive and mis-directive. Secondly, there are so many other worth considering factors apart from the size of the stones. For instance, how much damage is occurring in the kidney due to that specific stone? what is position and location of stone? What role that stone is playing in the patient’s disease? What could be the reason for the formation of that stone? Finally how to prevent it from recurring again?
